Associate Attorney

James P. McEleney graduated cum laude from Vermont Law School and began his legal career with a clerkship for the Hon. Douglas A. Brady in the U.S. Virgin Islands, drafting judicial opinions and mediating complex corporate disputes. Mr. McEleney was born and raised in the Hudson Valley, has served as a Public Defender, and, prior to joining the firm, practiced law in the private sector. Having practiced law in New York City and appeared on behalf of his clients in every borough of New York City, Mr. McEleney has more recently represented clients in civil litigation, contested matrimonial and family law matters, and criminal defense here in the Hudson Valley. Over the past several years, Mr. McEleney has won numerous contested proceedings, including achieving a not-guilty verdict for a man facing life in prison. Mr. McEleney represents the firm’s clients in complex civil litigation, matrimonial and family law litigation, and criminal defense and, as a skilled trial attorney, has resolved numerous cases and disputes.
